WHERE:-
WILLTONY is a 2500 acre Brahman Cattle, Andalusian and Warmblood Stud .
Situated on the Dawson River, 16.5kms south of Theodore on the Leichhardt Hwy.
Owned and operated by Ron and Mary-Lou Pelling and Son's.
THE CATTLE:-
The Brahman Stud was founded in 1985 with the first purchase of 6 heifers from the original Allawah Brahman Stud , then in 1987 the purchase of 10 stud cows from Batandra Brahman Stud . A few years down the track 8 females were purchased from the Brahrock Stud ,from there our genetics grew immensely.
We selectively breed HIGH Quality Stud Brahman Cattle, selecting our breeders and replacement heifers each year of the utmost highest standards, we introduce new genetics through AI and have in the past purchased the highest quality Stud Sires from the FBC and EL-JAY Studs.
We have a small herd of high quality POLL female breeders.
A top selection of Stud Sires are sold each year in Brahman Week, at the Gracemere Sale Yards outside Rockhampton, which is held at the beginning of October , we also have a Selection of HIGH Quality Paddock /Herd bulls and Stud females for sale on property .
THE HORSES:-
Our Performance Horses are used for all disciplines being, Dressage, Showjumping, Pleasure Riding or Camp Drafting keeping in mind Temperament and Conformation our Number 1 priority in both breeding of the Stud Cattle and Horse programs.
We have 2 Champion Stallions standing at Stud, CENTAUR GLADIATOR– Warmblood and RANGEMORE SILVERADO - Spanish; both have Excelled in the Show Ring with numerous Supreme and National Championships In hand and Under Saddle in Dressage and Showjumping
In early 2007 we imported 3 Spanish– PRE yearlings from Spain, 2 filly’s and a colt from the very well know and successful Candau Stud.
The horses bred here are all handled at birth and worked in hand when weaned, being stabled, taught to tie up, float and rugged . They are then put out to pasture for a relaxing break, then brought back in and prepared for sale or show.
We have found the Spanish Horses the most beautiful and kind tempered breed, extremely athletic, quick to learn and very easy to train with no vices.
Our Selected Warmbloods have beautiful natures, correct conformation, exceptional movement and agility.
We often host Equestrian Schools under EFA trainers in our full size arena offering secure stables and day yards for those participating including a relaxing weekend for the riders.
Our son Anthony is chief Rider at a well know Spanish Horse Stud – Candau, in Spain.
He competes in Spain and is also a Student of Rafael Sorto , who competed in the Sydney Olympics
